8 Days Fuzhou Tour with Tulou and Mount Wuyi

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival in Fuzhou

   Welcome to Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province! After arrival, your driver will pick you up at the exit of the airport arrival hall and escort you to the hotel.

   After settling in, you can explore the city at your own pace for the rest of the time. Fuzhou is one of the earliest five open trading ports in modern China, full of history and culture.

2. Day 2: Fuzhou to Quanzhou Tour
   Visit Serene Lake and Explore Historic Alleys

   After breakfast, start your Fuzhou tour with the serene Fuzhou West Lake. The park has a history of over 1700 years and is the most well preserved classical garden in Fuzhou. It is adjacent to the river and is a place for local elderly people to get up early for activities. Next, visit the Lin Zexu Memorial Hall. Lin Zexu was a great national hero in the mid to late Qing Dynasty of China, who repeatedly prevented the opium trade. Your tour guide will tell you more about his great deeds. Afterwards, you will be taken to taste the famous local snack - Guangbing.

   

   In the afternoon, visit Sanfang Qixiang, located in the center of Fuzhou city, which is the general term for the ten alleys arranged from north to south on both sides of Nanhou Street. You will appreciate the white walled and yellow wooden ancient buildings, as well as the celebrity residences crafted with intricate carvings.

   Afterwards, drive to Quanzhou. You will be led to visit the iconic Luoyang Bridge, which is the earliest existing cross-sea beam style stone bridge. Finally, enjoy an authentic Minnan style dinner at an ancient house.

3. Day 3: Quanzhou to Yongding Tour
   Explore Fishing Village with Unique Charm and Admire Red Brick Architecture

   Today, our Quanzhou tour takes you to Xunpu Village, a small fishing village inhabited by descendants of ancient Arabs. The women here wear beautiful hairpins made of fresh flowers on their heads and lilac earrings, creating a unique charm.

   Next, head to visit Kaiyuan Temple. It is the largest temple in Fujian Province as well as one of the oldest and most well-preserved temples in the city. An iconic landmark of Quanzhou, Kaiyuan Temple is regarded as a symbol of Quanzhou maritime culture and trade in history. Stroll along West Street and enjoy an authentic Minnan cuisine lunch.

   

   Continue your journey to Wudian City, which refers to the red brick houses with Minnan characteristics, spanning three periods: the Ming, Qing, and Republic of China. They have survived in various modern urban transformations. The block is filled with a variety of buildings such as ancestral halls, temples, residential buildings, and shops, including rammed earth houses, palace style red brick buildings, and even Western style buildings.

   Last, drive to Yongding, where you will take a fascinating night tour of the Hakka earthen buildings.

4. Day 4: Yongding Tulou Tour to Xiamen
   Discover Hongkeng Tulou's History and Unique Buildings

   In the morning, your guide will take you on a Tulou tour to discover the wonders of Yongding Tulou complex. We mainly visit the Hongkeng Tulou, a masterpiece of Fujian Tulou. It is famous for its long history, unique style, large scale, exquisite structure and complete functions, and is known as a shining pearl of Oriental civilization.

   

   You will see the architectural marvels such as Zhencheng Building, Fuyu Building, and Rusheng Building. After the tour, we drive to Xiamen, a coastal city renowned for its scenic beauty.

5. Day 5: Xiamen Gulangyu Island Tour
   Spend a Leisure Time on Gulangyu Island Exploring Diverse Attractions

   Your China tour in Xiamen begins at the Eighth Seafood Market. Due to its proximity to the port and convenient transportation, this place has been the "freshest and cheapest" seafood distribution center in Xiamen since the 1920s. Nowadays, half of the restaurants in Xiamen purchase seafood here every day. You can find many mouth watering traditional snacks and various specialty foods.

   Next, visit South Putuo Temple, located next to Xiamen University. It is a well-known Buddhist temple in southern Fujian and even throughout the country, and also a very popular place for praying. Then, we drive along the famous Huandao Road to enjoy the coastal scenery. Moving on to the highlight of our Xiamen tour, Gulangyu Island.

   

   Gulangyu Island is a peaceful and beautiful small island, and with its unique scenery, it has become a tourism card for Xiamen. There are attractions on the island such as Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, and Piano Museum. Climbing up Sunlight Rock, you can overlook the entire island scenery. In addition, Gulangyu Island also features the Minnan style and the 19th-century European style National Consulate. Because of these diverse styles of architecture, they are also known as the International Architecture Expo.

   When night falls, you can choose to participate in a tour bus tour (at your own expense) to witness the charming night scenery of Xiamen.

6. Day 6: Xiamen to Mount Wuyi Tour
   Explore Dahongpao Scenic Area, Taste Tea, and Enjoy Tea Art Performances

   After breakfast, embark on a second-class high-speed train to Mount Wuyi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its typical Danxia landform and rich biodiversity. Upon arrival, we will visit the Dahongpao Scenic Area first. You can learn about the history of Wuyi Mountain tea and to taste authentic Dahongpao tea. Professional tea artists will show visitors tea art performances, ‌so that you can enjoy tea while immerse in the excellent tea culture.

   

   In the evening, you can pay extra to watch the "Impression Dahongpao" performance.

7. Day 7: Mount Wuyi Tour
   Drift along Scenic Jiuqu Creek and Climb Tianyou Peak for Panoramic Views

   Today, you will experience a bamboo raft and gently drift along the Jiuqu (Nine-Bend) Creek. It is about 9.5 kilometers long and offers different views at every turn. It is famous for its clear water quality and winding river channel, forming a unique natural landscape combining waterscape and mountain scenery. After that, visit Wuyi Palace and Sanqing Temple.

   

   Continue your Wuyi Mountain tour by climbing to Tianyou Peak, located in the center of Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, with an altitude of 408 meters. ‌From its summit, you can overlook the stunning panoramic view of Wuyishan Mountain, including clouds sea, ‌Jiuqu Xi and so on.

8. Day 8: Departure from Fuzhou

   Savor your last moments in Mount Wuyi with a leisurely morning. Later, your private driver will escort you to take a high-speed train back to Fuzhou. Then you will catch your flight to your next destination or home. Your 8-day Fujian tour ends here.
